A Central Works Method Play
Written and Directed by Aaron Henne
Developed in collaboration with Theo Black, Gary Graves, Joe Jordan,
Marissa Keltie, Sylvia Kratins, Gregory Scharpen and Jan Zvaifler.
Premiered at the Berkeley City Club, February 2011.

In this darkly comic play that examines the nature of power and authority, a land surveyor known simply as "K" arrives at a remote, nameless village where a mysterious and foreboding castle looms. Authorities in the castle refuse to admit "K" until he encounters a mysterious figure haunting the halls and corridors of an endless maze. Inspired by Franz Kafka’s novel, “the Castle”, which ends mid-sentence.

"If you want theatre that pushes the creative envelope to the limits, don't miss this show.”

- George Heymont, Huffington Post

“Henne's play, and this production developed through the Central Works collaborative process, give a voice to Kafka's strange humor, something often left out in translations.

…Important --and a pleasure—to see.”
- Ken Bullock, Berkeley Daily Planet

“Strikingly effective...I’ll take Henne’s curious Kafkaesque Wonderland any day.”
